Fifteen SMSA students between grades five and seven headed to the Albany Diocese's Pyramid Life Center today to see the solar eclipse! They and their chaperones, including Father Scott VanDerveer, pastor of St. Mary's, teacher and parent Jess Trzaskos, and parents Alison Hancock and Joy Smith (who planned the outing) had an amazing time experiencing the eclipse in a place of such incredible natural beauty. Thanks to Emily Hampton, the Communications Director of St. Mary's Church, for sharing some of her beautiful photos of the day -- and for taking the time to teach the students themselves how to take good photos in nature; thanks to Father Scott for leading a prayer service for the students; and, of course, thanks to the parents who chaperoned and did the driving, making the trip possible!
