SMSA students are benefitting from a healthy dose of health advice this year, thanks to a grant from the Action for Healthy Kids organization’s “Game On” project. School nurse Amy Mignot procured the grant and has developed a yearlong wellness program to help SMSA students learn to make smart food and exercise choices. The posters below are just a sampling of the practical reminders from which our students are benefitting. Thank you, Mrs. Mignot!
A large group of fifth-, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders spent a couple of great days at Silver Bay last week, enjoying a fantastic outdoor educational experience — and the beauty of the Adirondacks. Thanks to all who made the trip possible, including Cady Kilpeck, who not only chaperoned but also photographed the adventure! For more of Cady’s great photos, visit our facebook page!
Join us at the Queensbury Applebee’s between 8 and 10 am this Saturday, December 3, for a Flapjack Fundraiser benefitting our eighth-graders’ class trip. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at school; a limited number will also be available at the door on Saturday. Hope to see you there! And thank you, Applebee’s!
Admissions Director Mary Kay Ilowiecki has released some of the replies she’s received from current parents regarding their satisfaction with SMSA. Asked to rate on a scale of 0-10 (with 10 being the highest) how likely they would be to recommend SMSA to a friend or colleague, respondents answered with an average score of 9.875!
“St. Mary’s nurtures the entire child – mind, spirit and body,” one 10 wrote. “The faculty and staff take time to know students and actually care about them. The curriculum is rigorous and the teachers have high expectations for students. They love and care about children…”
Another 10 wrote, “Wonderful school full of great educators, friendly staff, polite children and parents who are interested in their children’s lives and futures. Love the Christian education and values taught as well.”
And from a third 10, a special note of thanks, “SMSA is a wonderful place for a child to not only learn but to feel loved and secured. We love the small classroom sizes, the discipline, and the most important thing, which is learning about God and Jesus. It’s the whole package at SMSA…I love the small community feeling and as a working mom, I feel like I have some extra help in raising my little girl. So, I thank you, SMSA, from the bottom of my heart.”
